Jackson Hole skiing is legendary. With four area ski resorts to choose from, along with endless backcountry opportunities, there is skiing available to suit every taste - from groomed beginner slopes to extreme steeps. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is ideal for for novice to experienced skiers, featuring many acres of steep terrain and deep powder. Grand Targhee Ski Resort, just an hour away, is famous for it's abundant snow, receiving more than 500 inches of the stuff each winter. Snow King Resort is located right against the Town of Jackson for convenient access and night skiing. White Pine Ski Area in Pinedale, Wyoming is great place for skiers wanting to get away from it all. Of course, there are plenty of places to go cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and even dog sledding, for a change of pace!
Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana fly fishing is the best in the world! Jackson Hole is a great base for fishing trips to many blue ribbon trout fisheries, including the Green River, Snake River, and its tributaries in Wyoming, The South Fork and Henry's Fork of the Snake in Idaho, and numerous rivers in Montana, such as the Madison, Gallatin, and Yellowstone rivers. Local fly shops and fishing guides provide everything you need to get started.
Snake River rafting and kayaking can range from peaceful float trips and wildlife viewing beneath the Tetons to exhilarating whitewater in the Snake River Canyon. Several local companies offer a variety rafting trips along different "stretches" of the Snake. Meanwhile, locals take advantage of sunny summer days, putting in their own rafts, kayaks, and fly fishing drift boats for a day of fun and relaxation on the river.
Love to golf? Teton Pines Golf Club, designed by Arnold Palmer, is considered one the world's finest places to play. Golfing right in front of the Tetons at Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis- what a view! There are other courses available as well, north of Jackson, and over scenic Teton Pass in Idaho.
Hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping and backpacking - endless public lands provide incredible recreation opportunities in every direction. There is more to do than we could possibly cover here. It is clear that Jackson Hole is an amazing place to enjoy the outdoors and every type of mountain activity!
