Many residents who live south of town choose to recreate at Game Creek which is connected to Cache Creek through a myriad of trails. The trailhead is a few miles south of town on the left-hand side. Trails are shared by dogs, bikers, runners, walkers, and horseback riders. Each summer residents participate in a biking and/or running race that starts in Cache Creek and ends at Game Creek.

Hoback Junction is located 13 miles south of Jackson. Here you will find gas, snacks, rafting outfitters, and all the recreational opportunities that the Snake and the Hoback have to offer. A majority of whitewater rafting in the valley is done in these sections of the rivers.

If you turn left, or upstream, at the junction along Highway 191, you will follow the Hoback River through the canyon to the towns of Bondurant and Pinedale. Along the way you will be treated to a gorgeous canyon drive, vistas of open ranch land, and eventually views of the Wind River Range.  Keep your eyes open for antelope, deer, and wild horses.

Turning right, keeping on Highway 89, you will follow the Snake River to Alpine which is located 23 miles southwest of the junction. Alpine is currently a growing bedroom community to Jackson and serves as a nice rest stop on the way to Salt Lake City.
