Just south of Jackson is Star Valley; considered by some a destination unto itself. The community of Alpine is positioned at the north end of the valley and if you continue south on Highway 89 you will travel through the communities of Etna, Star Valley Ranches, Freedom, Thayne, Bedford, Grover, Smoot and Afton.
